Gov. Cuomo says America "was never that great".

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo stepped in it Wednesday when speaking in New York City.  This is something that will come back to haunt him as he runs for a third term, and is rumored to be eyeing the White House in 2020.

Cuomo said "We're not going to make America great again - it was never that great".

My dad was awarded the Purple Heart as a US Marine when he was shot fighting for this country that he loved so much.

I wonder how veterans like him and members of the Greatest Generation who fought for our freedom feel about Cuomo's words inside American Legion halls and VA Medical Centers around this state and the country today?

Seriously, I don't care if you are a Democrat or Republican, Independent, Conservative or Liberal, doesn't that rile your heart and emotions?

To be fair, President Trump has made outrageous comments that I don't agree with, and sometimes you have to shake your head when he does.  But this one from Cuomo hit close to my heart.

His spokesperson later backtracked after the Gov. got brush back from all over the country.

"The governor believes America is great and that her full greatness will be fully realized when every man, woman, and child has full equality," Cuomo press secretary Dani Lever said in a statement. "When the president speaks about making America great again - going back in time - he ignores the pain so many endured and that we suffered from slavery, discrimination, segregation, sexism and marginalized women's contributions."

Pros can spin it any way they would like.  Here's what he said...

Those are his words.  Take them any way you would like.  My dad, who was Mayor of Canandaigua, NY, would certainly challenge the mere thought, and where it came from.  God bless America and our troops who fight for US.
