No one does a cover like Kelly Clarkson!
The American Idol champion delivered a number of fan favorite tunes during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday night (September 9). For her guest spot this week, Clarkson and Fallon played a couple rounds of Beat Battle, in which both stars take turns singing parts of a song to the sound of a random beat performed by The Roots. The game ends when either the buzzer goes off or a player runs out of tunes to sing—no winners, no losers.
“I never run out, so good luck,” the “Broken & Beautiful” powerhouse playfully taunts in the clip — and let’s just say Clarkson is a real pro at this. During the non-stop singing competition, the 37-year-old had a lot of fun belting out some of pop’s biggest hits from then and now, including Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Señorita,” Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry,” Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance,” and other familiar hits.
Clarkson’s late-night cameo on Fallon’s show came just on the heels of the premiere of her own NBC television show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, which kicked off with a bang. The musician even enlisted actor Steve Carell to give Clarkson an unforgettable introduction with a nod to his 2005 movie, 40-year-old Virgin — see it again here.
